Is it any wonder traditional design is, once again, so beloved? In the hands of talented architects and designers, new homes that are inspired by the past are delivering the soul and updated livability we crave today. Case in point: this recently built Greek Revival style residence imagined and created by designer Hillary Taylor, architect Jon Jang, builder Evergreene Construction and Kappus landscape designer Simriti Schwobe. We’re smitten with the home’s historic character and breathtaking décor showcased in our feature story Time & Again. If you can’t get enough of this delightful estate, the following images offer more of it to savor. Enjoy the tour!

“The design is broken into usable spaces,” says Fillmore, who created a stream-like water feature and small terrace on the wooded slope between the main house and the transformed site above. “It’s like an invitation that brings you up to the property,” he remarks. From there, visitors arrive at an oval lawn crowned with a curved arbor from which three wooden garden swings hang, overlooking the entire landscape. The uniquely curved design does more than delight. “Unlike a straight structure, the shape allows people to interact face-to-face while swinging,” Fillmore explains. The garden swing structure is graced with traditional hanging gas lanterns that also act as way-finding elements as one walks through and discovers the site.

When empty nesters Chandra and Eric Bergeson purchased a property they had always admired in Salt Lake City’s St. Mary’s neighborhood, there was no question about the type of home they’d build on it. “I’ve always been drawn to older homes,” says Chandra, who has an affinity for classic American architecture and design. And while she knew the age-old look she wanted, Chandra had no idea how to create the traditional charm she desired. “That’s where Hillary came in; she knew how to get us there,” says Chandra, nodding to designer Hillary Taylor
